A steady crowd soaked up the music and the sun as clear weather paved the way for families to attend the 30th annual event organized by the Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The celebration of Hispanic culture through art, music, food and entertainment will continue Sunday from 1 to 10 p.m. on Third Street between Main Street and Boston Avenue.
Pamela Rivera, president of the Tulsa Community College Hispanic Student Association, said festival-goers were perusing booths set up by various organizations, eager to learn more about Tulsa's Hispanic community.
The student association aims to promote culture, raise awareness of issues affecting the community and encourage higher education, she said.
"We're just trying to spread the word," Rivera said.
The Tulsa City-County Library had a presence at the event as well, showing books from its Hispanic collection and promoting upcoming activities.
E. Darlene Lundy-Veo brought some children to the festival in the early afternoon.
As they sat eating tacos and nachos, she talked about the festival's improvement over the years.
Her favorite part is the live music throughout the weekend, she said.
"I thought it would be a great day for my granddaughter and I to soak up some of our culture," she said.
